Japanese Wiki says 20 Daitasus of 57th Shipping Engineer Regiment Remnants were reft in Shimushu.
The story will be long, but I would like to explain the background.
By 昭和18年軍令陸甲第106号 1943 Year Army Regulation “A” No. 106 dated 16 November 1943, 海上機動第一 ~ 海上機動第四旅団 1st - 4th Sea Mobile Brigade were organized. The purpose of the organization was to create units to defend the islands. One feature of the organization was having a sea transport unit for maneuver.
The 1st and 2nd Brigades were deployed in the south, and the 3rd and 4th Brigades were deployed in the Kuril Islands. The 3rd Brigade was deployed on Paramushir, next to Shimushu.
The 3rd Brigade except Sea Transport Unit was moved to Kagoshima prefecture in May 1945, and was reorganized into 125th Independent Mixed Brigade on 23 May 1945. Sea Transport Unit of 3rd Sea Mobile Brigade was renamed into 57th Shipping Engineer Regiment on 15 June 1925.
The below is the composition of a sea transport unit of a Sea Mobile Brigade.
The organization of sea transport units is not so clear. If a section was managing a Daihatsu, one company would have 28 dihatsus. So I guess a Company was left in Shumushu. The last Commanding Officer was 中佐 山崎策郎 LTC Yamazaki Sakuro.
